She adapted her “Titch” series of books, about a blond-haired little boy, his loyal moggie Tailcat and patronising older brother and sister, into a stop-motion animation series shown on Children’s ITV from 1997 to 2000, and won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1974 for The Wind Blew, a picture book in rhyme showing how “a crowd of people anxiously chase their belongings” in the wind.
Pat Hutchins,who has died aged 75, was the author and illustrator of more than 40 books for very young children including Rosie’s Walk (1968) and Good-Night, Owl! (1972).
